Keď zaneprázdnení rodičia Jim a Clare Andrewsovci nemajú čas na svoje deti, súrodenci Ethan a Sophie si nájdu nového priateľa. Skamarátia sa s hovoriacim opičiakom Montym, ktorý sa chce stať slávnym hercom a zúfalo sa snaží naštartovať svoju kariéru. Chce sa stať hviezdou... Zoznámte sa s Montym – hercom, moderátorom, no hlavne – hovoriacou opicou! Monty je hlavnou tvárou reklamy na energetický drink Monkey Up. So svojou kariérou však nie je spokojný a jeho snom je stať sa oceňovanou filmovou hviezdou. Jeho šéf s ním má však iné plány. Monty konečne naberie odvahu a s pomocou rodiny Andrewsovcov utečie zo zajatia. Jeho veselí zvierací súrodenci Mort, Mooner a Melody sú ochotní urobiť všetko pre to, aby sa Montymu splnil herecký sen a získal slávu. Rodina je ale vždy na prvom mieste!
