水仙一去不回，宋家二老十分担心，找到信阳县县衙，得知水仙出事。包拯奉旨出巡，传令各县所有重大刑案一律暂缓执行。包拯探访宋家二老，发现二老已离家多时，由地保口中得知水仙与二老均不知去向。水仙问斩在即，张龙赵虎带包大人口谕赶至法场，水仙被还押大牢。宋家二老在牢役的帮助下混入县衙探监，水仙说出宋天宝杀人嫁祸的真相，宋光告诉她指腹为婚的玉佩原非宋天宝之物。宋家二老击鼓当堂状告宋天宝杀人嫁祸，宋天宝假意答应救水仙，将二老软禁在府中。水仙在押往府衙复审途中被包拯留下，水仙说出宋天宝种种阴谋，包拯担心二老安危，再回信阳县衙。
